Janmashtami 2026 Shubh Muhurat: Know The Exact Time For Shri Krishna Puja Tonight

New Delhi: Shri Krishna Janmashtami is being celebrated with great pomp across the country today, 4 September 2026. On this day, Laddu Gopal is worshipped in every house, devotees observe fast and at midnight, a special puja is performed at the time of Kanha's birth. It is believed that if you worship with a true heart on this day, you definitely get God's blessings.

When is the auspicious time for worship today?

The most auspicious time for worship is from 11:57 pm to 12:42 am. Meanwhile, Laddu Gopal will be born. Bhadrapada Krishna Ashtami has started from late night of 4th September and will continue till the night of 5th September, hence midnight puja will be held today only. What is the significance of Rohini Nakshatra? It is said that Shri Krishna was born in Rohini Nakshatra, hence this Nakshatra has great importance. This year Rohini Nakshatra will be around midnight and its effect will remain till around 11:04 pm.

What items are required for the puja?

Keep all the items ready before the puja. Take a small idol of Laddu Gopal, swing, new clothes, crown, flute, peacock feather, sandalwood, roli, akshat, lamp, incense, camphor and fresh flowers. Panchamrit will be prepared for Abhishek – milk, curd, ghee, honey and Ganga water. Do not forget to include butter-mishri, coriander leaves, fruits, sweets and most importantly, tulsi dal in the offering.

How to worship Laddu Gopal?

Take bath in the morning, wear clean clothes and take a pledge to fast. Clean the temple properly in the evening and decorate it. At the auspicious time at night, first of all bathe Laddu Gopal with Ganga water and Panchamrit. Then dress in new clothes, decorate with a crown and peacock feathers, and give a flute in hand. Make them sit in the swing and swing them lovingly. Offer butter-mishri and panjiri, definitely add basil. At the end, perform aarti with incense sticks and distribute prasad after apologising for the mistakes and omissions.

What measures are taken on Janmashtami?

It is believed that bathing Laddu Gopal with saffron milk on the night of Janmashtami is very auspicious. There is another solution - offer a betel leaf to God and the next day make a Shree Yantra on that leaf with a roll and keep it in the safe. It is said that this removes financial crunch.
